As we age, changes occur at different rates to our upper, mid and lower face. In the upper face ‘dynamic’ lines appear, in the forehead and around the eyes, when we smile or frown. These lines appear because various muscles contract to form different facial expressions. Over time these expression lines begin to linger a little longer, or become a little deeper, even when your face is at rest. Botox® treatments are used to reduce lines and wrinkles that form in the upper face with relax wrinkle-causing muscles to help refresh your facial appearance.

Botox® (ONABOTULINUMTOXIN A) is a natural, purified protein that relaxes wrinkle-causing muscles, creating a refreshed look. Botox®’s active ingredient is derived from bacteria in sterile laboratory conditions in much the same way penicillin is manufactured from mould. As it is a prescription-only medicine, Botox® treatment are only carried out by our fully qualified doctors.

Botox® is registered for treatment of crow’s feet, forehead lines and glabella frown lines.

Botox® works by relaxing facial muscles that cause dynamic lines when you smile or frown. Botox® gradually smooths out current lines and reduces new lines forming, giving you a younger looking complexion.

Botox® treatment are quick and simple, non-surgical procedures. During treatment, a small amount of Botox® is injected into specific facial muscles using a very fine needle.

Botox® treatments generally take around 10 to 20 minutes. Typically, any pain is minimal and brief. No anesthetic is required, and you can resume any other aftercare instructions physician gives you.

Generally, people start to see results within two days of their treatment, and it takes about seven days for all results to be visible.

The effects of Botox® treatment usually last up to four months and gradually decrease over time. If you have regular Botox® treatment, the effects may lasts longer.

Regular Botox® treatment may help improve the longevity of the treatment effects. In addition, regular treatment may help reduce static wrinkles (these are wrinkles that are present even when your face is rest.)

Pregnant or lactating women, as well as people who have had a previous allergic reaction to the drug or any of its ingredients should avoid and not be used in Botulinum Toxin. Injectable treatment with botulinum toxin is generally well tolerated and side effects are few or generally mild and transient. Although not all, if any, of these side effects may occur. Side effects associated may include:
