IPL + E-Light System

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) HAIR REMOVAL

Why live with unwanted or excess hair when you can benefit from a safe, long-term hair removal solution? Suitable for the face and the body, IPL is quick, delivers results after just a few sessions, and has now superseded laser treatment as the preferred method for permanent hair reduction.

IPL PIGMENTATION

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) works to lighten or remove areas of pigmentation such as age spots and freckles on the face and body, helping to even out and improve your skin tone. Again, clients often enjoy dramatic results after just a few quick treatments.

IPL SKIN REJUVENATION

IPL also offers a non-invasive means of stimulating the skin`s elastin and collagen production, creating a fresher and more youthful appearance – particularly when combined with an exfoliating treatment such as microdermabrasion.

ACNE TREATMENT

Targeting over-active sebaceous glands, IPL can be used to reduce the number and the severity of active acne spots, and help to reduce inflammation and the frequency of break-outs. Again, clients often enjoy the most dramatic results when IPL is combined with microdermabrasion.

WHAT IS IPL TREATMENT?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a kind of light with high energy and broad wavelength which offers a safe, non-surgical treatment for many skin conditions often brought about by age or over-exposure to the sun. Intense Pulsed Light with broad spectrum affects pigmentations, Thread Veins, Spider Naevi, Cherry Spots, vascular lesions and hair follicles. It is also very effective on active acne and can improve the marks and scars caused by acne.

Photothermic and photochemical action will be triggered by the radiation of IPL. Pigment is shattered and eliminated out of body through metabolism. Meanwhile, IPL will also promote collagen production, which can make the skin more flexible and smooth. The light with long wavelength can easily pass through epidermis layer to the hair follicles in the deep skin layer. At the targeted area, high energy occurs to destroy follicles and hair shaft, preventing regrowth of new hair. With a series of treatment, IPL technology can help restore a more youthful appearance.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS WITH IPL TREATMENT

IPL skin rejuvenation treatments are quick, with minimal discomfort. Treatments can easily be fitted into lunchtime, allowing you to return to work immediately. At the meantime, sometimes there are some common or expected side effects with all IPL procedures:

  • Redness
  • Slight swelling
  • Initial darkening or your pigmented areas
  • An accentuation of the brown spots, crusting

If your IPL rejuvenation is performed by an untrained operator, burns and scarring may be occurs. This is why we employ only fully qualified and trained staffs who undergo extensive industry-specific training.

IS THE IPL PROCEDURE PAINFUL?

You will experience a slight sensation as the pulses of therapeutic light are passed over your skin. The amount of pain or discomfort experienced with IPL will of course vary with the individual, depending on personal pain thresholds, skin type, and how sensitive the area being treated is. Generally, the feeling is described as a discomfort rather than a pain. This discomfort has been commonly described as a stinging sensation, compared to that of hot oil or an elastic band hitting the skin, followed by a sensation of heat.

HOW DOES AN IPL TREATMENT INCREASE COLLAGEN?

The light bypasses the outer layer of skin (the epidermis) and gently heats the cells in the deeper layer of skin (dermis). These cells, called fibroblasts, start to produce more collagen, which improves skin texture and conditions.

WILL THE IPL TREATMENT MAKE SKIN MORE SENSITIVE TO THE SUN?

No, it does not. You can have the treatments done any time of the year. You can wear a sunscreen every morning and wear hats to protect your skin and decrease redness, brown spots, wrinkles, and skin cancers.

WHAT SHOULD I DO PRIOR TO MY IPL TREATMENT?

During the booking for your first treatment you will be given a consultation with our trained skin care therapist before you undergo IPL. This enables us to tailor a bespoke skin care plan to target your specific skin type and concerns, so that we can do our best to target these areas to achieve your desired results. Our therapist will also explain how it works, what happens during the treatment, and what you can do beforehand to prepare your skin and here are some of the basics.

  1. For 2-4 weeks before your treatment, avoid self-tanners and excessive sun.
  2. Discontinue minocycline, tetracycline, doxycycline or Retin-A/Renova several days prior to each treatment.
  3. Avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or Aleve one week prior to treatment unless medically indicated to help prevent bruising.
  4. Protect your improved skin with sunscreen every morning. Hats and sunglasses are also good protection from the sun.
  5. Applying the prescribed skin care products according to the regimen specifically designed for you.
  6. Shave the treatment area within 12-36 hours of IPL hair removal appointment (this does not need to be done for consultation and patch test)
